In a recent livestock export to Zimbabwe, we embarked on a journey filled with both triumphs and challenges. Our mission was to transport 61 Jersey heifers and 17 Holstein heifers to our eager clients across the border. What began as a promising endeavor quickly turned into an eventful day with unexpected twists and challenges.
First, the good news: we achieved a remarkable milestone in loading the Jersey heifers. In just 45 minutes, all 61 of these beautiful animals were successfully loaded onto the truck, setting a new record for our team. This was a testament to our well-organized logistics, the dedication of our crew, and their ability to handle tasks efficiently even under pressure.
However, the situation took a different turn with the Holsteins. These heifers seemed to have their own plans and were far more reluctant to leave the comfort of South African soil. Despite this, our team persisted. It took time, patience, and a lot of coaxing, but eventually, the Holsteins were safely loaded, and the journey continued without further incident.
We’d like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in this operation—from our skilled team members and veterinarians to the farmers and their teams, and especially to our clients for their patience. We hope the new additions to their herd can offer improvements and increase the diversity of their current stock, contributing to their overall success.
While it may have been a long day at the office, the satisfaction of a job well done and the anticipation of happy clients made it all worthwhile. In the end, we successfully completed another livestock export to Zimbabwe, overcoming the challenges and achieving our goals with determination and teamwork.
