George Landbouskou 2023: Dairy National Championships

From the 24th- 27th of August, the George Landbouskou 2023 brought the farming community together for a triumphant reunion and fierce competition in the form of the National Dairy Championships for the Aryshire, Jersey & Hosltein Friesian Breeds. After the trials of COVID-19, this event marked a joyous return to normalcy, rekindling the spirit of camaraderie among breeders and enthusiasts.

We were fortunate to attend this fantastic event, and we can attest that it was more than just a competition; it was an exhilarating celebration. We had an absolute blast, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and connecting with fellow agriculture enthusiasts.

One of our own, Guy Bird, was a ring steward for the Jersey and Holstein Friesian National Championships. Alongside him was Brian Carscadden, a highly experienced judge. His contributions and insights elevated the competition to new heights, ensuring a fair and thorough evaluation of the outstanding livestock on display.

The Jersey SA Genetic Sale/Auction on the 24th of August, featured excellent bulls and heifers with genetics promising a brighter future for the Jersey breed.

The George Landbouskou 2023 was not just a competition; it was a beacon of hope and a testament to the unwavering spirit of farmers. As we reminisce about this remarkable gathering, we eagerly anticipate more opportunities to come together, learn, and celebrate the enduring legacy of agriculture. Congratulations to the winners, all participants, and the promising future of dairy genetics in South Africa!
